Maja Inaho Festival & Sumo Tournament

Strong individuals gather!
Every year on the 15th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar, a traditional event is held to pray for bountiful harvests. This year, it will be held on a Saturday to make it easier for everyone to participate! Strong individuals from all over the island gather to compete in Okinawan sumo (Okinawa zumo). Unlike Japanese sumo, Okinawan sumo starts from a grappling position, and the winner is the one who knocks down their opponent's back. The powerful matches of the men are breathtaking. The women's division (Anmā zumo) is also popular in this competition. Since registration on the day is accepted, those confident in their strength might want to give it a try?
