Kimiidera 千日詣

It is said that a visit on this day will bring the benefit of a thousand days. To convey this profound tradition, the "Ryugu Princess Dragon Lantern Offering Pilgrimage" is held. The Ryugu Princess, accompanied by court ladies carrying souvenirs from Ryugu Castle, offers the never-fading light of the dragon lantern as she proceeds from the Buddha hall to the main hall. The leading messenger from Ryugu chants, "Ryugu Princess, Dragon Lantern Offering, one day for a thousand days, bringing happiness and virtue!" to announce the arrival of the Princess to the Kimiidera Kannon and to pray for the happiness of the visitors.

The prayers and dedications performed with the special 千日詣 amulet are accepted from 8:00 to 19:00 (though there is a one-hour break from 14:00 to 15:00, during which the special 千日詣 prayer and teaching will be held in the main hall). The special 千日詣 goshuin will be issued from August 1 to 10 (on the day of 千日詣, it will be accepted until 21:00, and on other days it will be accepted from 8:00 to 17:00). The Ryugu Princess Dragon Lantern Offering Pilgrimage will start at 20:00. The 福棒 throwing event will start at 20:30.
