Autumn Festival of Higashi Iwashi Hachiman Shrine
Prefectural designated cultural property, Traditional child's dance of the Iwashi district
At the Autumn Festival of Higashi Iwashi Hachiman Shrine, a child's dance performed by children under the 6th grade of elementary school is dedicated. There will be performances of the 'Kami Yoisame' child's dance, 'Tenar's' child's dance, 'Banzai' dance, and 'Ninjo Sodo' dance. The origin of the dance is said to have come from performances of kyogen and other forms of entertainment offered during the Keicho period, and around the Genroku period, performers were invited from the Kansai region to dedicate the dances as they are seen today.
