Itoman Harley

A festival of fishermen praying for a good catch and safe voyages
It has been said for a long time that when the Harley bell rings, the rainy season ends, but in Itoman, on the 4th day of the 5th lunar month each year, a magnificent Itoman Harley takes place in the Chuu area of Itoman Fishing Port to express gratitude for the blessings of the sea and to pray for even greater catches and safe voyages. Traditional events such as Ugwan Bare, Agai Sub, and Kunnukase (capsizing race) are deeply inherited, making it a representative maritime event alongside Naha Hari in Okinawa Prefecture. It has also been designated as an intangible cultural asset of Itoman City.
