The Hokkaido Marathon is the only full marathon held in Japan during the summer. This event, which started in 1987 with only 439 entries, has grown to accommodate 20,000 participants. Many Japanese national team athletes selected for the Olympics and World Athletics Championships participate in this event, making it a coveted stage where runners can compete alongside top-class athletes.
