Special Exhibition: Let's Know Japan's Terrain - Learning from Maps -

Focusing on unique landforms of our country such as river and volcanic topographies, we learn from past disasters with the "Disaster Prevention Monument", conduct lake and marsh surveys using new technologies, create topographical data from historical aerial photographs, and research terrain classification methods using machine learning. We also introduce preparations for disasters, learning for students using "Geospatial Information Authority of Japan maps" and the "origins of map symbols". Through Japan's terrain, we aim to make maps feel close to people and deepen their understanding of their significance and importance.
