Ariwara no Narihira, a representative poet of the Heian period, was born in the second year of the Tenchō era (825). Therefore, this year, the 7th year of Reiwa, marks the 1200th anniversary of his birth. This course will focus on Narihira's "Kokin Wakashū" poems that continue to live beyond a millennium, exploring the background of the birth of his famous verses while savoring their charm in depth.
