Feel the Coolness of Omi: Exhibition of Linen, Kasuri, and Fans

A cool exhibition to relieve the summer heat
A cool exhibition to relieve the summer heat is being held at the Gokoshō Omi Merchant House (the birthplace of the Nakamura family, the residence of Jungorō Nakakuchi, and the residence of Hikojiro Fujii). In addition to the three major Japanese fans from Marugame, Kyoto, and Bōshū, works made of linen and kasuri by Yōko Kitagawa from Fabrica Village will be on display. The linen fabric handled as a product by Omi merchants has long been known as a specialty of the Kōton region, praised for its excellent moisture absorption and passed down as wisdom for staying comfortable and cool during the hot summer. Why not go out and experience the nostalgia of the Showa era and Japan's traditions?
