The 'Sankin-kotai' where feudal lords traveled back and forth between Edo and their domains. The 'Edo Sanpu' where the Dutch Trading Post chief audience with the shogun. Travel at that time was certainly not easy. The Hirado domain traveled by ship to Osaka and then overland to Edo. The Dutch Trading Post chief brought rare imported goods as tributes to the shogun. This exhibition reflects on the journeys made by the Hirado domain lords and the Hirado Dutch Trading Post chief through the two trips to Edo.
