Daisyo-san of Machiya - Tango no Sekku

Celebrating Tango no Sekku in Kyoto style
May 5th is "Tango no Sekku". It is a day to pray for the growth of boys by displaying warrior dolls. In Kyoto, these warrior dolls are called "Daisyo-san," and it is customary to decorate them with accompanying warriors, swords, bows, banners, lanterns, and more. During the event, the "Daisyo-san" that has been passed down through generations at Tomitaya will be displayed. There are also plans that include a "Machiya tour," "traditional stories," and "celebratory kaiseki meal". Reservations are required in advance.
