Special Exhibition 'The Leader of Dutch Studies, Shinzō Itō' Ōno City Museum of History

Introducing Shinzō Itō, who taught Dutch studies in the Ōno Domain
The lord of the late Edo period, Toshitada Doi, believed that the only way to restore the weakened Ōno Domain was through education, and thus built a domain school. He invited Shinzō Itō, who was serving as the headmaster of Tekijuku in Osaka, as a professor at the Western Learning Hall of the domain school to advance the study of Dutch studies. The year 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of Shinzō Itō's birth, and we will display related ancient documents and introduce Shinzō Itō and the Ōno Domain's efforts in Dutch studies. Collaborating institution: Osaka University Tekijuku Memorial Center
