Takase Gorge is famous as one of the top spots for autumn foliage in the prefecture. The Takase River, which is fed by the waters of the Yari Mountains, merges with the Minakami River and features three dams in succession: Takase Dam, Nakakura Dam, and Omachi Dam. The autumn colors progress in order from the highest, Takase Dam. The emerald green Takase Dam Lake and the beauty of Kitakuzusawa's gorge are one of the scenic viewpoints. *Please inquire about the special taxi from Nakakura Dam.

About 1 hour from Nagano Expressway Azumino IC via the Northern Alps Panorama Road and Prefectural Road Yari Dake Line to the Nakakura Dam parking lot.

About 20 minutes by car from JR Shinano-Omachi Station to Omachi Dam, then about 5 minutes by car to Nakakura Dam, and about 15 minutes by special taxi to Takase Dam.
