Special Exhibition "Matsue's Master Craftsman Kobayashi Jodei - His Skills, Like That of a God -"

Kobayashi Jodei (1753-1813) served as a carpenter (a woodwork craftsman) for Matsudaira Higo, the 7th lord of the Matsue domain (known as Fumai). He excelled in intricate carvings and handling thick materials, also creating tobacco trays, tea boxes, and buildings. His praised skills, described as 'like that of a god,' influenced future craftsmen. This exhibition reintroduces the remarkable woodworking culture of Matsue through works by Jodei and those inspired by him.

Closed on Mondays (if it falls on a holiday, the following weekday is closed; however, it will be open on 4/28 (Monday)). Viewing receptions are until 16:30. ※ On 4/25 (Friday), the exhibition room will open at 9:30 for the opening ceremony.

10 minutes from the San'in Expressway "Matsue Nishi" IC towards the Prefectural Office and Matsue Castle.

13 minutes from JR Matsue Station via the Matsue Lake Line to "Otemae Horikawa Pleasure Boat Boarding Area / History Museum Front" and a 3-minute walk.
