[Sakura Viewing] Mitsuse Fortress Ruins

The cherry blossoms adorn the ruins of the Mitsuse clan's historic castles

Mitsuse Fortress Ruins

Late Mar~Early Apr

This is said to be the site of the historic residence of the Mitsuse clan, who were vassals of the Kitabatake family and influential landholders. Located at the beak-shaped tip where the Otani River meets the main stream of the Miya River, it is surrounded on the south, west, and north by cliffs, making it a stronghold. The fortress is enclosed by an earthen rampart 3 meters high, and an old well remains, preserving traces of the past. Designated as a historical site in Mie Prefecture in 1975. Beautiful cherry blossoms can be enjoyed in the spring.
