The Master of Kyoto, Kijima Sakura-ya: A Life Full of Paintings (Sagaarashiyama Bunka-kan)

A retrospective exhibition reflecting on the works of Kijima Sakura-ya (1877–1938) will be held. In addition to major works, new acquisitions such as the long-missing 'Arashiyama Clear Stream' will also be introduced. Works by painters who set up studios in Kinugasa after Sakura-ya will be displayed, featuring Kikuchi Keigetsu's 'In Five Middle Generals' and Domoto Insho's 'Birds Flowing in the Deep'. Furthermore, through the exhibition of relics, the character of Sakura-ya will also be explored. This is a rare opportunity to convey the charm of Sakura-ya's art, which has been receiving renewed evaluation in recent years.
