Kuno Castle Ruins

Mid-Apr~Late Apr

The Kuno Castle Ruins, located in the city center, were built by Mitsumasa, four generations prior to Masazumi Kuno, and became the last battlefield in Toyotomi Hideyoshi's unification of Japan. The ruins feature stone walls believed to be the oldest in the Tohoku region and were designated as a historic site by the national government in 1935. In spring, about 40 cherry blossom trees within the grounds bloom beautifully, making it one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the city.
