Danzen Shrine・Rice Planting Experience

Plant the ancient rice used in the Kakyaku Festival "Hundred Flavors of Food"
At Danzen Shrine, the "Kakyaku Festival" (an intangible folk cultural asset of Nara Prefecture) is held every October, where the autumn harvest is prepared and the "Hundred Flavors of Food" is offered. This event includes an experience of planting "ancient rice" used in the Kakyaku Festival. Participants are served rice balls made with ancient rice, and after planting, they can relax their tired bodies in the hot springs of the Takaumi Tourist Hotel. (A bathing fee of 800 yen is required for the hot springs.) Enjoy the rice planting while feeling close to history and culture. ■Notes Application can be made by mail, fax, or phone. Participation is required in clothes that can get dirty and rubber boots.
