Reiwa 7th Year Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival

The over 1,200 cherry trees lining the banks of the clear Shiogawa River against the backdrop of the snow-capped Zao Mountain Range are a symbol of the town. It began in 1923 when Mr. Kaijiro Takayama donated more than a thousand cherry trees. Every year, many tourists visit during the blooming season. The 'Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival' is also held, attracting many people from both inside and outside the prefecture. Enjoy a stroll along the spectacular blooming avenue, bathed in the gentle spring sun, and feel the arrival of spring! ■Notes The cherry blossom scenic spot 'Nirayama Seki' is currently under renovation which only occurs once every 50 years, and scaffolding has been set up, making it inaccessible.

Cooperation fee required. Temporary parking lot on the riverbank: 1,000 yen per general vehicle, medium-sized/microbus 3,000 yen, large bus 5,000 yen at the bus-only parking area (taxi pool in front of JR Ogawara Station).

About 15 minutes from the 'Shiroishi' IC on the Tohoku Expressway towards Ogawara Station, along the Shiogawa River.
