[Hydrangea Peak] Gekshôji

The representative hydrangea temple of San'in

Established by the first lord Naomasa to honor the memory of his mother, Gekshôin, and subsequently became the family temple of the Matsudaira clan. During the rainy season, around 30,000 hydrangeas bloom profusely, attracting many visitors as the 'Hydrangea Temple of San'in.' There is also a treasure museum on the premises where visitors can view temple treasures.
