This year, the Inuko (Ingo) Hyotan Festival (Gion Festival) will be held. "Inuko Hyotan" refers to the talisman from Yasaka Shrine, a shrine within the grounds of Omiya Shrine, dedicated to the deity that was worshipped to quell the plague that was prevalent in Yamaga during the Edo period. During the period of Inuko Hyotan distribution, there will also be limited Goshuin (temple stamps) from Yasaka Shrine, bamboo talismans for health and the elimination of plagues, protective talismans, five-colored Hyotan talismans, and pet talismans available. *Note that there is a limited number of preparations each day.
