Oosatsu Tenno Whale Festival

A festival unique to a port town
This festival is derived from the Seifuku-ji Temple on Aomine Mountain, which enshrines the golden eleven-faced Kannon from the legend of 'Kannon riding on a whale.' Originally part of the Tenno Festival held on July 14, it is a festival that prays for bountiful fishing and safe sailing, taking place mainly in coastal port towns from Toba to Shimma, and has been carried out in various districts for a long time. The grand procession of the whale mikoshi, fortune distribution, karaoke, performances, and a dance showcase by the Mie High School Dance Club conclude with a 30-minute fireworks display.
