Arrival of Spring: Plum and Cherry Blossoms

This exhibition features paintings and crafts representing the plum and cherry blossoms, which are typical flowers of spring. The plum, enduring the cold and exuding a delightful fragrance, has been cherished by scholars as a noble and elegant flower, inspiring poetry and art. While the plum is widely loved in the East, the cherry blossom has been particularly adored in Japan. It has been featured in many Japanese poems and stories, beautifully blooming and fleetingly falling, captured in paintings and crafts. Visitors can feel the arrival of spring from both the plums and cherries blooming in the garden 'Bunkatei' of Yamato Bunkakan, and the plum and cherry blossoms adorning the exhibition hall.
