A rare giant cherry tree in the prefecture with an estimated age of 800 years
The "Koho Sakura" is a giant cherry tree with an estimated age of 800 years and designated as a natural monument of the town. According to legend, it grew from the branch of a cherry tree that Kobo Daishi used as a staff. Every year during Golden Week, it showcases stunning blossoms that make it hard to believe it is an old tree.
