Yamaguchi Gion Festival

A festival of Yasaka Shrine that has continued since the Muromachi period
During the Muromachi period, Lord Hiroyo Ouchi promoted a town design modeled after Kyoto in Yamaguchi, and in 1369 (Oan 2), he enshrined the Gion Shrine of Kyoto (now Yasaka Shrine) in the city's Tatesukojimachi. Subsequently, in 1459 (Choroku 3), a festival incorporating the Gion Matsuri of Kyoto was held, marking the beginning of the Yamaguchi Gion Festival, which has been passed down for about 600 years. On the 20th: Shinko, on the 24th: City-wide Dance, on the 27th: Kankou.
