80 Years After the War: Memories of Yokohama Citizens Who Lived Through the War and Post-War Period

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the post-war period. Before the war, Japan continued external wars, with many citizens heading to the battlefield as soldiers. Moreover, towards the end of World War II, large-scale indiscriminate bombing raids on major cities resulted in many civilian casualties. This exhibition introduces the impact of the war and the realities of bombing damage experienced by Yokohama citizens through materials and testimonies, while also focusing on the wartime suffering of children during the continuing war-related damage in the post-war occupation period.
