Approximately 1,000 cherry trees, including Ezo Yamazakura, Somei Yoshino, Ooshikozakura, Shidarezakura, and Higanzakura, begin to bloom sequentially, allowing for an extended period of cherry blossom viewing. There are several cherry trees over 200 years old in the grounds, among which the famous Ishiwari Cherry, which grew while splitting a giant rock, can be found. Usu Zenkoji, famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot, attracts many tourists who come by sightseeing buses from various places during the blossom season.
