Asakusa Kannon 46,000 Days "Hoozuki Market"

Summer tradition of Asakusa
The day with the most merits for the Kannon deity is July 10. Visiting on this day is equivalent to 46,000 days, or about 126 years, which can be considered the limit of a human lifespan. As a result, visits on this day became popular from the Edo period. Nowadays, both July 9 and 10 are celebrated as 46,000 days, and on these days, the grounds of Senso-ji Temple are filled with many "hoozuki" stalls. The amulet to ward off thunder can only be received on these two days.
