Miniature Tamamakura Workshop

Experience the history and techniques of the Asuka period.
"Tamamakura" is a pillow made of a large number of glass beads woven together, discovered as a burial artifact from the tomb of Fujiwara no Kamatari, the deity of Tanzan Shrine in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. In this workshop, we will create miniature tamamakura using beads as a theme. Using a variety of colorful beads and recreating the weaving techniques of the time, it is an experiential program where participants can create their own unique works. Through the production process, participants can touch upon the techniques and aesthetic consciousness of the Asuka period and reflect on the prayers of the people of that time. ■Notes Applications can be made by mail, fax, or phone. A guardian is required for those in the third grade of elementary school or younger.
