Tagata Shrine Lantern Festival

A summer tradition of the lake country
This festival is a lantern offering in gratitude to the goddess, Izanami no Mikoto, who presides over the land of the dead. The number of lanterns exceeds ten thousand, and their impressive arrangement in several tiers on high poles is famous as a summer tradition of the lake country. Throughout the three days of the event, there will also be performances such as Sarugaku, Taga Ondo, and live music, attracting many visitors who enjoy the evening coolness.
