The Secrets of Kimono: The Birthplace of Yuzen

This exhibition features exquisite kimono pieces from the early modern to modern periods, resources such as model books that supported trends of the early modern period, and also introduces the development of the Kyoto painting scene starting from Maruyama Okyo and its relation to textile patterns, the process of applying designs to textile works, and how the pattern trends were shared with other crafts. We approach "the secrets of kimono" from an unprecedented perspective.

Note

Closed on Mondays (however, open on July 21 (Mon, holiday), August 11 (Mon, holiday), and September 15 (Mon, holiday)). Closed on July 22 (Tue) and August 12 (Tue). Open until 8 PM on Fridays. Entrance is allowed until 30 minutes before closing.

Access (Public)

Take the city bus No. 5 to "Okazaki Park Museum / Heian Shrine" and get off right there, or take the subway Tozai Line to "Higashiyama" station and walk about 10 minutes.
