The Daigo Sakura has a trunk circumference of 7.1m, a root circumference of 9.2m, branch spread of 20m in all directions, and a height of 18m. The species is Azuma Higan (a type of Higan Cherry). According to legend, in the second year of Genko (1332), Emperor Go-Daigo praised this cherry tree while exiled in Oki, which led to its name. It is said to be approximately 700 years old, with local lore claiming it to be 1,000 years old, attracting many visitors during its stunning full bloom every year. A natural monument of Okayama Prefecture.
