Summer Special Exhibition 'Sun! Sun! Sun! Solar Observations Connected by Citizens'

Solar observation with telescopes has a history of over 400 years dating back to the time of Kepler and Galileo. In Japan, sunspot observation with telescopes was conducted during the Edo period. Furthermore, in modern times, telescopes became available to many people, leading to solar observations by amateur astronomers. This exhibition introduces the modern astronomical view of the sun and the significance of solar observations conducted by individual observers centered around Nagano Prefecture.

Admission fee: General 500 yen, High school students 150 yen, Elementary and junior high school students 100 yen. Free for elementary and junior high school students on Saturdays. Entrance is free on Respect for the Aged Day (9/15) and Autumn Equinox Day (9/23).

Access (Public)

Take the Matsushiro bound bus via Kosenjo from bus stop 3 at the Zenkoji Exit of Nagano Station, and get off at 'Kawanakajima Kosenjo', then walk for about 3 minutes.
