Solemn Bon Event
A Bon festival held in Sugihama. This event is a spirit sending ceremony that takes place in various locations across the country, but the spirit boat 'Seiraimaru' in Sugihama is a gigantic straw boat measuring 8 meters in length and 4 meters in width, made by the village's youth. It is decorated with colorful lanterns, origami cranes, and flower chains, loaded with offerings, candles lit, and quietly pulled out to sea. Once this solemn Bon event is over, autumn in Mihama Town is just around the corner.
