Torigoe Jinja Grand Festival

The Senkan Mikoshi procession is a must-see
The Torigoe Festival, which has a history of over 1370 years at Torigoe Shrine, attracts about 200,000 people who gather to catch a glimpse of the Senkan Mikoshi (1000 kan portable shrine), which is said to be the heaviest in Tokyo, made in the early Showa period. During the night festival, the main shrine's mikoshi procession surrounded by towering lanterns and lit with small lanterns creates a solemn and fantastical atmosphere. About 250 stalls line the streets for enjoyment.
