10th Anniversary Exhibition after Death "The Dreaming Boy of Iwami, Becoming a Painter - Sho Ishimoto's Early Career 1940-1952"

In a turbulent era, the footsteps of a young painter's restless search
Sho Ishimoto (1920-2015), a Japanese painter, was born in 1920 in Okayama Village, Naka District, Shimane Prefecture (now Misumi Town, Hamada City). He spent his childhood in a rich environment, surrounded by nature, where he could play while also becoming familiar with records and books, nurturing a rich sensitivity. This exhibition displays about 60 works and sketches from 1940 to 1952, marking the period until the dreaming boy of Iwami left his hometown and began his journey as a painter after his student days during the war.
