Echuu Yao Float Festival

A splendid and luxurious picture scroll of a bygone era revived in modern times
A traditional event that has continued for 280 years featuring all six Yao float carts designated as tangible cultural assets of Toyama Prefecture. The lavish decorations created by the townspeople of Yao, who flourished as the officials of the Toyama Domain, include masterpieces from renowned craftsmen of Inami carving, Jyonan lacquerware, and Takaoka metalwork, and it is said to be a comprehensive exhibition of Echuu fine arts and crafts. Additionally, the float cart music is performed inside the float cart, enhancing the festival atmosphere. At night, the float transforms into a lantern mountain illuminated by thousands of lanterns, with festival music and lively shouts echoing into the late hours of the night. ■Remarks Held annually on the same date.
