The 56th (2025) Jantokoi Uozu Festival (Tatemono Festival)

Full of impact! Majestic "Tatemono" procession
The "Tatemono" is a boat-shaped lantern weighing about 5 tons, carried by around 80 people. It features a large pillar approximately 16m tall, with over 90 lanterns hung in a triangular shape, and stands on a 10m length of stacked wood and sled. It is pulled around by spirited young men in happi coats within the grounds of Suwa Shrine, with their cheers echoing throughout the venue. A fireworks festival will also be held on August 2nd (Saturday) starting at 19:40. The collaboration of fireworks and the tatemono offers an unparalleled experience exclusive to Uozu! ■Notes Expo-related event
