Amagi Gion Yamakasa with about 300 years of tradition
The Gion Festival at Suga Shrine is held as part of the summer festival and began between the Keicho and early Edo periods. It is said to have started with the construction of a portable shrine and parading the divine spirit around the town in response to an epidemic.
