Kyoto: Early Period Dyed by Japan's Oldest Cotton Fabric Merchant

Bringing to life the spring hues with the "Miyako Odori", the flickering lights of lanterns swaying during the night, the "Daimonji" visible across the bridge, and the summer tradition of the "Kamogawa Noryou-doko". These scenes unique to Kyoto are dyed by Japan's oldest cotton fabric merchant. In conjunction with the Osaka/Kansai Expo, a commemorative tenugui from the 1970 Expo will also be displayed. The concurrently held "Kyoto Fan Exhibition" will feature Kyoto fans made using specially crafted tenugui on their surfaces. Various types of Kyoto fans and their manufacturing processes will be introduced, conveying the depth of traditional craftsmanship. *During the period, some exhibition contents will be changed.
