Special Exhibition 'The Group of Ema from Tamamura Hachiman Shrine - Part 1: Wishes Transcending Time and Space Come True'

This time, approximately 200 ema from Tamamura Hachiman Shrine will be publicly displayed, divided into two parts, for the first time in 15 years. Most of these ema were removed during the repair of the shrine building in the early Showa era and were discovered in 1978 beneath the Kagura Hall. The ones with specified dates range from the Edo period in the 1600s to the 10th decade of the Showa era, with many large ema inscribed with prayers. The themes are rich and varied, including depictions of divine horses, wishes, and animals and plants, reflecting the faith they commanded as protectors of the Nikkō Reihōshi Road Tamamura Inn. ■Notes .
