[Autumn Foliage Peak] Nata-ji Temple

[Autumn Foliage Peak] Nata-ji Temple

One of the best spots for autumn foliage in Hokuriku

Nata-ji Temple

Early Nov~Late Nov

It is said that the temple, a famous Shingon sect temple, was founded in the first year of the Yōrō era (717) when Master Taicho enshrined the Thousand-Hand Kannon in a cave. Rebuilt in the Edo period by the third lord of the Kaga domain, Maeda Toshitsune, the temple was later visited by Basho, who left the famous phrase 'The autumn wind is whiter than the stones of Ishiyama.' In autumn, it is bustling with families enjoying the autumn foliage. *From November 1 to December 31, special admissions are free (however, the shoin and designated scenic gardens are closed to the public for cultural property protection).
