70th Anniversary of Passing - Hirota Hyakutaka Exhibition

Hyakutaka Hirota, from Kaga City, was a modern Japanese painter. He excelled in depictions of beautiful women, birds and beasts, and natural landscapes, but particularly focused on sincere rural scenes and farmers which departed from traditional styles of Japanese painting, leaving a fresh impression on viewers. In honor of the 70th anniversary of his passing, we will reflect on his work through his artworks and materials. Let's enjoy the world of Hyakutaka’s works that built a unique style beyond tradition while fully absorbing traditional painting techniques, bringing a new wind to the modern Japanese painting scene.
