"Living the Tree" Resonance of Noh and French Theater

A work born from the encounter between a Noh performer and a theater artist
The theater piece "Living the Tree" was created by French artist Simon Gaucher and Noh performer Ryuusei Utaka. In 2008, Simon visited Kyoto to study Eastern theater and received training in Noh. Ten years later, Simon returned to Japan as a resident of Villa Kujo and the two reunited. This work was born from that encounter. This time, we will introduce how this work was created from the perspective of the Noh performer, incorporating videos and images. A short performance of shimai (Noh dance) will also be held.
