40th Anniversary Special Exhibition 'Breaking Down and Assembling Joinery'

Doors and partitions that divide spaces. These 'joinery' items are architectural devices that are opened and closed many times every day, used frequently without a day of not being touched. Especially, the joinery of cultural heritage buildings such as shrines and temples have been opened and closed repeatedly over their long history. This exhibition focuses on the internal structure of joinery and the techniques of repairing damaged materials to restore function, deeply exploring the traditional techniques of 'joinery production'.
