In this course, we will delve into the creations of our predecessors who have repeatedly engaged in adaptations of Noh, Joruri, and Kabuki. In the first part, we will focus on the trunk, that is, the source of the subject matter; in the second part, we will consider the branches, exploring how diverse works have been depicted. We will also look broadly at works by modern and contemporary authors such as Osamu Dazai, Kuniko Mukoda, and Kankuro Kudo, not just classical literature. (Hiroichi Kinoshita)
