Shinji Kobayashi (1890–1965), a Western-style painter born in Omama Town, Yamada County (now Omama Town in Midori City), is known for often depicting Mount Akagi, earning him the nickname "Akagi Painter". He studied at the Western Painting Research Institute of the art organization "Hakubakai" and had his first selection in the 3rd Bunten in 1909. He continued to paint landscapes both domestic and abroad, including Mount Akagi, and achieved repeated selections in official exhibitions. This exhibition will feature the landscape paintings of Mount Akagi that Kobayashi loved, along with works and materials related to his hometown, reflecting on his life. ■Notes Children and students from elementary to middle school who enter on "Children's Day" (May 5) will receive a gift.
