Tako Gion Matsuri

A summer tradition of Tako Town
The Tako Gion Matsuri is a festival in Tako Town that has continued since the Edo period, held every year on July 25th and 26th as a summer tradition. Accompanied by the sound of festival music, float parades take place in the four towns of Shinmachi, Honmachi, Nakacho, and Takane. On the same days, the 'Shikago dance' is also dedicated, praying for 'bountiful harvests, health, and prosperity for descendants', featuring performances with masks of lions, deer, and rain frogs by young men, as well as acrobatics on poles called 'tsugume'. *The annual fireworks festival is not scheduled to be held this year. ■Note Shikago dance photos
