Shadow Puppet Play "Geio - Whale Life" Nagoya Performance

A heart that cares for others blooms - A story of Japan and Taiwan

Sompo Japan Puppet Theater Himawari Hall

9/13(Sat) 11:00

By the seaside in Hualien, Taiwan, an old woman is watching the ocean when a boy passes by. The old woman has a somewhat unusual name, Geio. She was born to a fisherman father from Yonaguni Island, Japan, and a mother from Hualien. The old woman begins to tell the boy about her childhood memories: Yonaguni Island, Taiwan, the sea god, the whale's messenger, the mountain peach tree, unfulfilled promises, and sad farewells... A fairy tale-like story of Geio, adorned with beautiful shadow puppets and music.
