At Matsuo Temple, Japan's oldest temple for warding off evil located in Yamato Koriyama City, Nara Prefecture, various colorful roses of large, medium, and small sizes are cultivated, originating from countries worldwide. In 1952, as a commemoration of the major repairs to the main hall, roses were planted in the temple grounds to revive the old flower fields.
