Film Screening of "The War of Announcers"

Trusted words, despaired by words.
During the Pacific War, another battle was supporting the Japanese military's fight: the "radio war" through broadcasting. Inspired by Nazi propaganda, it aimed to boost morale and national pride using the "power of voice" and confused the enemy with misinformation. This was undertaken by the NHK and its announcers. Their activities during the war are depicted on screen based on facts, illustrating the hidden connections between broadcasting and war. Featured actors include Go Morita, Ai Hashimoto, Kengo Takaura, Ken Yasuda, Kenta Hamano, and Shunsuke Daito, among others. ■Notes Japanese subtitles are available; no audio guide app support.
